Logline: A 4-minute comedic drama follows a young couple in their twenties through a heated argument that uncovers deeper truths than expected.
Budget: $5000
My Responsibilities: I served as the producer for this film, overseeing every aspect of production, from securing our filming location to casting two talented actors and coordinating a crew of 26. I successfully raised $2,400 of our total budget by securing funds from 22 backers through crowdfunding efforts. In addition, I managed the film's marketing and social media campaigns, generating over 20,000 impressions on Instagram alone. I also handled the film's merchandise, ensuring designs were finalized on time and coordinating the shipping of items to our backers. I maintained strict oversight of all departmental budget expenditures, ensuring they remained within their allocated limits. The film was shot in just one day, and I ensured seamless logistics throughout the entire process.
What I Learned: This film was a step up in size and complexity compared to the previous films that I produced, but I implemented a lot of what I was starting to learn from my Producer's Assistant job at Camlock Films to keep everything running smoothly and hitting their deadlines. I learned a lot about crowdfunding campaigns, the importance of ongoing, consistent communication to financial backers, cast and crew leading up to and after the film set. I also learned to never attach film merchandise to the crowdfunding campaign again haha. Lastly, I learned the importance of knowing before even beginning the production process, who your audience will be, and figuring out where the film can go. I have high hopes for it, and believe in its success.
